Garrett is playing in a Jonesboro Parks and Recreation summer basketball league. It is his first venture into the world of basketball. I am the coach and get to be out on the floor with the team (you get a glimpse of me on the attached video).
Many of you have captured peak moments on video and many of you, like us, haven't had a charged battery or forgot the camera when a highlight occurred. We got lucky and got this one on tape. We weren't so lucky when Mikah scored her first soccer goal and her first basket. In both cases I was filming the game from the sideline while I was coaching. Unfortunately, I got so excited as I saw her approaching the goal the camera wound up capturing the ground rather than Mikah's soccer goal and I got a crowd shot rather than Mikah on the BB court.
Fortunately, Tawnya was on the camera this time, and on the video you will see ol' #20 make a steal and take it the length of the court for his first basket. It took him two shots, so he got a steal, rebound and basket all in one series. Then next time down on defense he picked up a loose ball, dribbled the length of the court again, shot and missed, but got the rebound and passed it to a teammate.
You can see his excitement on the video as he looked to the stands to see Mom, sister, and Grandma and GrandDad, who picked the right day to come to Jonesboro to see him play.
Cool thing about technology is that YOU don't have to travel to Jonesboro to see it, but we'll leave a light on in case you decide you want to.
